Stories from the table.
Stories gathered along the Way — from the table, from places of welcome, from moments of encounter, from kindness hidden in the corners of the world.
Some stories arrive through walking. Others through listening. Often, a combination of the two :)
These include my own, as well as stories that belong to others and are shared with care. All are offered as reflections, not conclusions.
Pull up a chair at the Pilgrim Table.
Every pilgrimage carries a story — of longing, of surprise, of encounter. Here we gather reflections from those who have walked roads both visible and interior. May their words accompany you on your own way.
Camino Francés: A Table in Orisson
When the meal was served the young woman invited us to go around the table and introduce ourselves and she left us to it. It was magical, people spoke in numerous languages I could not understand but I knew what they were saying.
Lough Derg, Ireland: Outer Journey, Inner Journey
Thomas Merton, a Trappist monk, says, “The geographical pilgrimage is the symbolic acting out of an inner journey. The inner journey is the interpolation of the meanings and signs of the outer pilgrimage. One can have one without the other. It is best to have both.”
How has pilgrimage shaped you?
Your story does not need to be big or loud. Sometimes the smallest encounters hold the deepest grace.
